The foundation of Douros Antonis winery dates back to 1976, when its founder, Fotis Douros, built the first family winery in Dervenakia, Korinthia. Due to lack of modern equipment, wine making then was primitive compared to today. The wine was stored in cement tanks and wooden barrels, and was mainly sold at wine shops and taverns in loose form.
At the end of the 1980s Douros Winery, witnessing its rapid development, decided to make its dream come true. It was in 1987 that Fotis Douros together with his children took the big step to relocate the winery to privately-owned, much larger and fully modern premises. The aim was to increase the productivity of the winery and utilize advanced technology in the face of fierce competition.
